The Yakult Swallows of Japan’s Central League announced Thursday they had reached an agreement with 26-year-old right-hander Gabriel Ynoa, who had opted for his release from the Baltimore Orioles rather than accept a Triple-A assignment.
According to Kyodo News, the deal is for one year and estimated at 60 million yen (roughly $550,000). The native of the Dominican Republic has struck out six batters per nine innings in 163-2/3 major league innings, while allowing 34 home runs and will be moving to one of Japan’s best home run parks.
